Ways to support the work of CASE and the Catholic Enquiry Office.

The team at CASE has the immense privilege of running and resourcing the Catholic Enquiry Office. The Office is often people's first point of contact with the Catholic faith and Church. Part of the CEO outreach includes providing leaflets and basic materials to enquirers free of charge. We are also committed to attending public events where we can reach out to others through our stand, contacts cards and other materials.

We have attended, the Glastonbury Rock Festival, Soul in the City (London), several Spirituality Fairs and many other public events. There is much planned for the year ahead.

CASE, as an agency, aims to provide a wide variety of resources to help existing Catholics too witness to their faith. We have a full portfolio of training for 2006-2007, have a number of new leaflets and booklets in the pipeline, plus the on-going development of our two websites; www.caseresources.org.uk and for non-Catholics www.life4seekers.co.uk

All this work requires the back-up of your prayers, time, and where possible, financial assistance. We ask you to consider helping us in whatever way you are able.

Thank you to those who already give of their time, prayers and donations. You are very much remembered in our prayers.

What follows are details of a number of ways through which you can support our work financially.

Gift Aid Declaration

If you are in a position to make a donation, please would you consider filling in a Gift Aid Declaration?

Filling this form in will be of enormous benefit to our finances. If you pay income tax and/or capital gains tax (at least equal to the tax that the Catholic Enquiry Office reclaims on your donations in the tax year), the Catholic Enquiry Office is able to reclaim 28p for each £1 given in donations.

The CEO can only reclaim tax on gifts at the basic rate of 22%. A higher rate tax payer can reclaim the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate of tax at 22% in self assessment returns.  From April 2004 tax payers are able to gift these repayments to a charity of their choice.

Please note:

1. The donor will only have to fill in one declaration for all the donations he/she wishes to give in the future or from 6th April 2000 or in any period he/she indicates.

2. You can cancel this declaration at any time by notifying the Catholic Enquiry Office.

3. If in future your circumstance change and you no longer pay tax on your income and capital gains equal to the tax that the CEO reclaims, you must cancel your declaration.

4. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return.

5. This declaration refers to all donations given weekly/monthly/ quarterly/yearly by Cash, Bankers Order or cheque for which the Catholic Enquiry Office has record of receipt.

Payroll Giving

A new scheme started in April 1987 called payroll giving. If your company takes part in this scheme you can instruct your employer to deduct gifts to charity direct from your pay and you won't have to pay tax on them. There is no minimum or maximum amount you can give in a tax year. For example, giving £1 per month would cost a basic rate taxpayer only 75p monthly from take home pay, and a top-rate taxpayer would pay only 60p each month. To the C.E.O. this would be worth £12 per year.

If your employer is part of this scheme please remember the C.E.O.

For additional information about charity giving please see the Inland Revenue's website which can be found at: http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk

Remember The C.E.O In Your Will
