"The person who has been evangelised goes on to evangelise others."
(Evangelii. Nuntiandi, 24)
Jesus was and still is the greatest evangelist the world has ever known. He wanted and encouraged his followers to be like him. Before he sent them off along the by-roads and high roads of the world he spent three years teaching and preparing them for mission.
Translating that into the here and now, using the training and resources schools of evangelisation have to offer, can prove invaluable to Catholic individuals and communities, not least in helping to build confidence to evangelise.
In this country, Catholics schools of evangelisation offer a variety of short and longer courses to help equip individuals and groups to evangelise. The courses tend to include prayer and the sacraments, basic catechesis, Bible study and hands on experience of different strategies and programmes.
The Maryvale Institute, Birmingham, offers a wide range of courses; from Parish Catechists training to facilitating PhD courses.www.maryvale.ac.uk
