CASE Ezine - Launch Edition - July 2007

Case Team

Welcome to the first edition of our ezine. We hope it will both inspire and inform you about just some of the things that are happening in evangelisation today, as well as get you thinking about the issues. One of these is surely the image ‘evangelisation’ has today. This does not mean ‘spinning’ the Gospel (see the quotation from von Balthasar on our home page, www.caseresources.org.uk), but being aware of the negative impact religious fundamentalism can have. The best antidote? “Modern people listen more readily to witnesses than to teachers” (Pope Paul VI), and we have collected a superb range of personal testimonies for you on: www.caseresources.org/whatcanido/whatcanido_sharingfaithArchive.htm

In this launch edition:

Evangelisation Directory: Ever Wondered What’s Out There?

This diverse collection has information on everything from parish missions to Small Christian Communities, from family-centred initiatives to ideas for welcoming back returning Catholics. There is also a comprehensive list of online and printed evangelisation resources. Testimony: Sam’s Story

Sam Portrait

My initial thought was, “I’m not an evangelist!” However, over the last few years I have been involved in an Easter family conference organised by Catholic Charismatic Renewal. I am part of the team who plan the youth stream for 15-22 year olds. Many of these young people are on fire for God; they have an awesome desire to know Him further, to walk closer with him. They do not need my stereotypical concept of evangelisation, but they do need someone to walk with them, bringing the richness and depth of God to them, just as we all do. And that is evangelisation.

Event: Loud and Clear, 16th – 19th July

This year’s Loud and Clear Conference, organised by the Diocese of Clifton, Portsmouth and Plymouth, is taking place on July 16-19th, in Exeter. The week will be an opportunity to hear great speakers and workshop leaders, such as Bill Huebsch, Megan McKenna, Nicholas King and Daniel O’Leary; to be lead musically by CJM; to pray together; and to network and discover more about God’s Church. There are still a few places left, so don’t miss out on this great event!

Road Sign

'The urgency of missionary activity derives from the radical newness of life brought about by Christ and lived by his followers. This new life is a gift from God, and people are asked to accept and develop it, if they wish to realise the fullness of their vocation in conformity to Christ.'
(Redemptoris Missio 7)
